How to Flash Allwinner Devices Using LiveSuit Pack v1.11
LiveSuit Pack is a tool that allows you to flash firmware images on devices with Allwinner chipset, such as tablets, TV boxes, and mini PCs. In this article, I will show you how to use LiveSuit Pack v1.11 to upgrade your device with a new firmware.
What is LiveSuit Pack v1.11
LiveSuit Pack v1.11 is the latest version of the LiveSuit tool, which is compatible with all versions of Windows OS, including Windows XP to Windows 11 (x32 or x64 bit)[^1^]. It also supports Linux and Mac platforms[^2^]. LiveSuit Pack v1.11 contains the flash tool LiveSuit v1.11 and Windows USB drivers needed when upgrading Allwinner devices[^2^]. You can download LiveSuit Pack v1.11 from here[^2^], here[^3^] or here[^4^].
How to Use LiveSuit Pack v1.11
Before you start, make sure your device is charged up, 100% charge is nice. Also, make sure you have downloaded the firmware image (.img file) that you want to flash on your device and rename it so that there are no Chinese or foreign characters within the filename[^2^]. Now follow these steps:
Extract the LiveSuit Pack v1.11 zip file on your computer.
Run the file âLiveSuitPack_1.11.exeâ from within the Livesuit folder. This should install a new device on your system (VID_1f3a_PID_efe8). This device may show with an exclamation mark in Windows Device Manager, this doesnât matter and can be ignored[^2^].
Run âLiveSuit.exeâ from within the Livesuit folder. You should get an application like in the image below. You will be asked if you want to be guided through the process, select no[^2^].
Click on the leftmost icon (a cube), browse to your downloaded firmware image, and select it[^2^].
Turn the device completely off. The device should be off throughout the next process. Hold down the power button for ten or fifteen seconds if youâre not sure, just make sure it is off[^2^].
Connect the USB cable to your device and hold down the volume+ button, keep the button pressed[^2^].
Connect the other end of the USB cable to your computer (keep that volume+ button pressed â I know, it hurts by now) Using your third hand, straight after attaching the cable, and whilst still holding down the volume+ button, start pressing the device power button repeatedly (approx 1 press per second for 10 seconds is enough). This procedure puts the device into update mode[^2^].
After a few seconds a window will pop up on your PC asking if you want to perform a forced firmware update. You can stop the pain and release the volume+ at this point. Select yes[^2^]. You will be asked if youâre sure. Select yes[^2^].
The update will start and will take approx 3 minutes to complete. You will see a % complete progress bar during the process and will get a dialog saying OK when itâs done. It is a non-linear progress bar, so even though it appears to be stuck at times, donât panic[^2^].
Turn your device on and you will have the new firmware, be happy/sad based on the fact that it is better/worse than your previous firmware[^2^].
I hope this article helped you to flash your Allwinner device using LiveSuit Pack v1.11. If so, please tell me in a comment what do you think about it. aa16f39245
